Colours of nature, Finland Documentation                                Task: Subject: Pupils age: Colours of nature Crafts, art 9-10 Size of the class: Number of lessons: Connection to other subjects 16 3 Biology, physics, chemistry Preparation: Collecting bio waste and spices, buying the photo copying paper Lesson(s): First we watered the copying paper, next we put the bio waste and other materials on the paper and then put it under pressure. We used books to do that. The next day we took the books away and took the materials away from the photo copying paper using water. Then we let the papers dry. That happened quite quickly. Afterwards we made cards out of the pictures. Results: Surprising figures and ornaments on the photo copying paper. Comments: Easy but smelly the pupils commented.

 Lesson(s):

The pupils of Hyrsinki school class 5 and 6 were taking part in a geocaching lesson in September. Their caches were little problems and after solving them the pupils got the codes to put in the GPS receiver for the next cache.

Results:

They learned how to use the receivers, solving several kinds of mathematical and other problems. They learned to work in groups, divide tasks and trust each other.

Comments:

It was useful and extremely fun.

Idea of orienteering, Finland

Geocaching  is an outdoor recreational activity, in which participants use a Global Positioning System(GPS) receiver or mobile device and other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers, called "geocaches" or "caches", anywhere in the world.

A typical cache is a small waterproof container containing a logbook (with a pen or pencil). The geocacher enters the date they found it and signs it with their established code name. After signing the log, the cache must be placed back exactly where the person found it. Larger containers such as plastic storage containers can also contain items for trading, such as toys or trinkets, usually of more sentimental worth than financial.
