PAULA SOLER SCHOOL (SPAIN)

We are a small school in Quintanar del Rey a rurall village , Quintanar has about 7000 inhabitans and there are two schools and a High school in the village, it is a rural area where most families live from agriculture.


Our school has got around 200 pupils and 18 teachers. We have three preschool classes from 3 to 5 years old but it is not a compulsory education for pupils, and then we have 6 Primary classes, from 6 to 12 years old.
We begin our classes at 9:00 a.m until 14:00 p.m, we have a half an hour break in the middle of the classes at 11:15.
We do not have a school canteen so our pupils have to come back home for lunch. And they have clubs after school, football, basketball, tennis,  computers, music, english, dance etc.
We love doing new things at school so we always try to work on new projects to motivate our students,

Hyrsinki school is a village school with 51 pupils, 4-6 teachers and 3 teachers’ assistants. The youngest ones are the pre-school pupils aged 6 and the oldest ones are on the sixth grade. In the municipality of Pirkkala there are 5 primary schools and we are the smallest one. We belong organizationally to Kirkonkylä School, but are quite independent. The school will have its 100.Birthday next year. This project will be the third international project we take part in.
Our school is situated in a rural area, but there is not much farming here anymore. We have around 19 000 inhabitants in Pirkkala and our nearest town is Tampere in the southern part of Finland.

Our school is a state primary school which has students aged from six to thirteen; we have also got a kindergarten with pupils aged from three to five. It is located in the village Kowala, which is in the Sitkowka-Nowiny Commune. Sitkowka-Nowiny Commune is situated in the central part of Swietokrzyskie province, close to a very important road – nr 7 – between Warsaw and Cracow.  Sitkowka-Nowiny Commune is very attractive, due to its geographic position. It is distant only 12 kilometres from the central part of a big city Kielce, located in Checinsko-Kielecki Landscape Park and it is surrounded by places with many tourist attractions typical to Swietokrzyskie region.

    Primary school in Kowala started service before the First World War and it was a small wooden building then. A few years later a new brick school building was made. Now, we have got a new big building with 8 classrooms, a gymnasium, a computer laboratory, a library, a common room and two big classrooms for the kindergarten. Our students can join a School Theatre Club, judo lessons and a scouts group. Students have swimming lessons and younger pupils can learn horse riding.

Frostviksskolan / Jormskolan

The primary school Frostviksskolan is situated in the small village Gäddede, the central village of Frostviken, the most remote part of the municipally of Strömsund. Including Jormskolan, which belongs organizationally to the same district, we have 72 pupils of the age 6 to 16.
The school is surrounded by great and unique nature in the Swedish mountains, so it started to focus on “nature pedagogic” one year ago. That means that we try to implement the resource “nature” in our daily education, wherever it is possible. The forest is just 50m away!

With approximately 0.2 inh./km2 is Frostviken one of the less densely populated areas in Sweden. The central village of the municipally (12 000 inhabitants) Strömsund with the same name is 130km away. With 240km of distance is Östersund the closest town.

Our school has three parts: primary school, kindergarden, forest kindergarden.
There are 50 pupils in the primary school, 6 – 11 years.
We have four classes: first year, second year, third year and the fourth and fifth year
together.
There are four classteachers, an art teacher, two assistants.
We have a school club until 4.30 pm with two assistants.
And we also have a school canteen.
We are focused on Environmental Education and English. We start with English in the first
year. We develop cooperation with other schools in Europe.
We organize sport and outdoor activities (skiing, cycling, hiking).
We cooperate with other village schools of our region .
We use our schoolground and open-air classroom in lessons.
